Hi Folks,
I just received word that Jon @Highfiguregrips had finished a set of redwood burl grips for me, and I'm very pleased with the work. He cautioned me that the wood doesn't wear well, but I wanted them for BBQ and photos, so durability wasn't a big deal.
I also sent him some 4,000 year old bog oak, and some Ancient Kauri wood that's older than the oak. So, we'll see what happens with the new project!
Thanks for looking!

I always wanted to ask why you don’t see Oak 1911 grips. Too hard? Not enough character? I’ve got several large slabs of Tennessee Black Oak which I think is the same as Bog Oak. I might have to contact Jon myself.
I am sure if that is what you wanted someone would make a set for you. I have some bog oak here and although cool stuff, it isn't very attractive. Most people want a lot of figure on such a small item.
