Anyone hear about the RIA 2011?

Yeah, read the article in the new Handgunner. First, it's not a 2011, unless the only criteria for that designation is a modular grip frame because other than that it has nothing in common with the 1911/2011 design. The article never mentions the caliber, though you can assume 9mm from the size of the bore and boxes of ammo in the pics. Also, they never mention mag capacity or the price. Still, they carry on like it's an advertisement and the best thing since sliced bread. To me it looks like Glock, CZ, and HK got together and came up with a gun then right before it went live Hi Point stepped in and sprinkled a little of their magic on it. No thanks, not interested.

I kinda like it. I don't like the rail and I really, really do not like the trigger dingus. I would like to see a thumb safety.

If MSRP is $1,100 or less, I might buy one.

I'll also say this... for quite a number of years I've enjoyed the American Handgunner magazine and the writing of Roy Huntington but frankly, he came off like either a straight-up shill or a pompous ass when he twice told me in the video that I've never owned a gun or shot a handgun with a trigger this good.

Cause that's a load and I'm sure that most of the Addicts on this site are also quite aware of what a truly elite level pistol trigger is like.

Well I signed up for the e-mail to let me know if/when it is in stock.

I really hope this doesn't end up being another deal where the hype and interest completely blows away the production schedule and delivery.

Most recent example: Springfield SA-35

Most ridiculous example: Kel-Tec PMR-30

The Springer HP is trickling out now and we are one year in. If you remember back to the announcement of the Kel-Tec PMR-30... man I'm trying to be absolutely honest but I want to say that it was a solid 4 or 5 years of outrageous demand and barely any units being shipped.

The PMR-30 sold for significantly over retail for YEARS because it was so difficult to actually get one.

Well I clicked through the site to "add to my wishlist" for this pistol they are not yet shipping... did not get any kind of an email. (I would have thought maybe a generated reply saying okay, we have you but no.)

I'm still ready to throw a grand at this, I just really hope it isn't months or years before these exist in the flesh.

Well that explains the disparity between the report Roy Huntington gave and the video the other guy did. The second guy's video was much better but his trigger pull was definitely heavier.

Maybe I'll send an e-mail to Fred Craig when I get mine and see if there is an alternate sear spring or some insider info for folks who REALLY appreciate a fantastic trigger and who aren't litigious.

That site is somewhat interesting...
Basically nothing but the front page of the site is built, each link is under construction.

But the gun showcased on the main page looks like a pricier and more slicked up version of the 5.0.

He had exactly this same company/brand name a decade+ ago before Rock Island brought him on and debuted the .22TCM.

He offered a much higher end version of the double stack convertible 9mm/.22TCM back at the same time the RIA 22TCM came out.

I hadn't heard the name "Atomitronx" for at least 10 years until I heard that host say it in the most recent video.

-- UPDATE! --

Not a great update! :p Get up today and on a whim, I reloaded the page for the site that handles the RIA products, my guess is that these guys are their main importer (even though this pistol is supposedly domestic manufactured.) Anyway, as I wiped the sleep out of my eyes it appeared to show me that this pistol was IN STOCK! Woohoo, but my wallet was not near so I grabbed a shower and 25 minutes later I get to the computer instead of the phone and begin the process but oops, out of stock. I clicked over to my e-mail to see if they had actually sent me the "in stock notification" I had asked for and indeed they had. By some stroke of evil HAHA luck, I managed to load the page on a whim, see them in stock, then wait too many minutes to click through and poof gone.

The e-mail said FIVE units were available. They did not last. I can only hope that many dozens more are to follow in very short order... but this remains to be seen.

I will reiterate my earlier hope that these get up and running and shipping and this isn't a PMR-30 kind of debacle.

In any case... at least five regular schmoes with faster fingers than I have these pistols en route. This might mean that 30 "known schmoes" with credentials and YouFoob channels maybe are getting them also and more more more info and reports will flow also.

Stay tuned!
