Just finished putting a new trigger in my Glock 47 and thought I’d go to the range and try it out with the rival-s

For those unaware, the Glock 47 is what is being sold now instead of the Glock 17 MOS. It has a Glock 45 frame with a Glock 17 slide. You can put a Glock 19 slide on it, or use the slide with attachment to make a long slide Glock 19.

Current build:

  • Holosun 407 optic
  • radian ramjet afterburner comp
  • 15 lb recoil spring (to run 115 grain ammo)
  • GPT with standardco FFT trigger shoe that breaks at ~ 2.5 lbs
  • extended slide telease

Range results:

Glocks already do a great job of managing recoil, but the radian afterburner makes it shoot flat. Follow up shots are quick and the radian barrel is exceptionally accurate. The Glock target is on the right. Couple flyers but managed to cut out the red dot at 10 yards with just a couple mags worth of ammo. Recoil was just a little less than the rival-s, which is pretty amazing given the weight difference.

Rival-S

The rival-s is stock. All I’ve done is added a Holosun 507 comp. Phenomenal trigger out of the box that breaks around 3.5 lbs. Better break and reset than my $200 Glock trigger, although a bit heavier. The rival-s target is on the left. This was my first outing with this optic and I need to adjust it to the right. Still did pretty good at 10 yards. Recoil was just a bit better with the Glock, which is not unexpected being a comped firearm.

Overall very happy with both. The rival-s remains a fantastic out of the box pistol. No failures with factory 115 grain ammo with either one.

I shoot a Rival-S for Carry optics, great gun, I'm north of a 1k rounds and the only issue was a single FTF while dropping the slide from the slide stop using big 150gr rounds on a half full magazine, a quick tap got it into battery. Mine has a LOK grips, brass guide rod and a freedomsmith trigger shoe now...just to add a little more weight and the trigger shoe doesn't make the trigger lighter so much, but does make it feel that little bit better.
