With the in-progress departure of warmer and more humid weather from my area, I’ve been more willing to carry blue-steel guns. The one pictured here is not in my standard carry line-up at this point, though I do keep in good practice with it: a five-inch barreled 27-2, carried here in a Barranti Summer Classic IWB holster.

A five-inch N-frame IWB? Some of you already know this but, indeed, the combination is quite possible. There are a variety of makers who offer holsters to accommodate; I, personally, have found the Barranti Summer Classic and its more forward-angle (though also fully-adjustable as-needed) to be a boon in both concealment AND comfort.

I recently carried this combo all day and into the night. Spare ammo rode in a Barranti Triple Deuce 2x2x2 pouch. No problems, no discomfort, and some empty-gun work on drawing and reholstering along the way confirmed what a good combo this is, at least for me.

I’m sure that a good shoulder holster would impart more of the subtle Dirty Harry vibe packing this N-frame; however, I’ve not yet met a shoulder rig I can practically use, and the Summer Classic just makes it all happen SO well.

Barranti sometimes uses the phrase “Comfortable Peace of Mind” in their social media posts. For me, they are not kidding.

The five-inch 27 made its way to the range recently and, particularly when firing some Super Vel 110-grain JHP .357 ammo, threw a little flame along the way!
