Hey all I had a question I thought someone here may be able to answer. I have a springfield mil tec that is engaging the slide stop before the magazine is empty. It doesnt do it all the time maybe once out of 7 or 8 full mags worth of shooting. the slide stop doesn't fully engage but does so just enough to lock the slide back. It is not jamming on a round. any ideas? I was thinking maybe it is a magazine problem but dont know. It is doing it on both factory mags that came with the gun. If you have had something like this happen to you let me know

Look for copper marks on the slide stop tab that engages the follower. It sounds like the bullet ogive is hitting the slide stop as it comes to the top of the mag. If you don't see any copper, then make sure you aren't touching the slide stop with your support hand thumb and pushing it up when the muzzle flips.

You can gently file the slide stop where you see the copper until they just disappear and try it in the gun to see if you've taken enough off. You see if it solves the problem and if more copper shows up. If so, you do it again. Don't change the shape of it so follow the facets that it has on it.
