Anyone own a 1911 holster from Southern Trappers? I came across their website when searching for 1911 holsters. They look damn nice and you pick and choose the options that are tailored made to the exact manufacturer and model of your 1911. A little on the high side, but their quality looks top notch and great reviews.

I’m currently looking to buy a new holster. My old one was Custom made from a local guy in Oklahoma that made them on the side. His work was very good and I think I paid ~$100 for it 7 years ago. I used it for my TRP and SACS Professional. He isn’t making them anymore. I figured since I recently bought a NHC 1911, I should probably invest in a good holster. I’ve googled a ton of makers, but wanted to see what you guys and ladies are using. Leather, OWB is what I’m after

I can absolutely vouch for ST. I have one that my wife bought me as a Father’s Day gift. They are a little pricey but come with a 99 year warranty. I’ve always heard you buy once cry once. The one I have also came with a kit that makes it IWB or OWB.

I will give you the flip slide. Most southern trapper holsters are fairly pedestrian, single stitch construction that lack detailed molding and reinforcements where needed. They have great marketing and website though.

Take a look at 5-Shot, Bulman, Sparks, Bitterroot, Palmetto, and others for higher-quality holsters.

(Yes I have handled ST holsters)

I will say, I was not impressed. I was drawn in by all the options they had for leather holsters (fit for lights and optics). I ordered one for my Staccato C2 with optic and tlr7 light. Took a couple months to get it. Their packaging is very bespoke, came in a fancy box and drawstring bag. They could probably cut some costs on the customers end and save some money with simpler packaging, why would you ever use it again once you get it? Anyway like blade above said, the holster itself had basically no molding (basically looked like a pouch the gun dropped in), and the leather was very thin with single stitching. For the cost I was expecting MUCH more. I think I paid around $300 for the holster and a mag pouch. The mag pouch was Ok and I use it, but I don't use the holster. I'd definitely look elsewhere. I've bought many holsters from High Noon, they're about half the cost with much thicker leather and better molding.

i live in SC and see a lot of their products. They are essentially a marketing company. Much better options out there..IMO

Minimal stitching too. Notice how Galco nicely stitches their belt loops for reinforcement?

I have a few ST holsters. They are well crafted however for IWB use, I would only select a model that has a metal reinforced mouth. I have found that without reinforcement, it is difficult to reholster the firearm. I also have a Milt Sparks Versa Max 2 which a like a lot better.

I have to admit their CS was excellent, it needed to be since I had so many problems w/ the holster I bought. I ordered an OWB holster for a Korth Super Sport revolver. The holster showed up with a crease right down the center of the holster. I called CS and explained that this was totally unacceptable, so I sent it back to be repaired or replaced. A few weeks later I received an email asking if I minded if the holster came back black (it used to be tan), they had an issue w/ the dye.

I nicely and quietly asked for my money back, and they quickly agreed. Given what I paid for the holster, how could they send that out to a customer?
