Looking for a new IWB for my commander. I’ve got SS2’s for both already but wanted to try the VM2 design.

These seem to be the two big recommendations out there. Wanted to solicit feedback.

TT seems to be much quicker new.

I have the TT Gunleather Reinforced Mike's Special that I use every day with my Staccato C2 and one for my CZ P01 Omega. They are great holsters. I also have (2) Milt Sparks Criterion holsters for my 10mm 1911 and my Valor VBOB. They too are absolutely the top of the line IMO. I don't think you can go wrong with either. TT has a quicker turn around time if that is a deal maker or breaker.

I have owned and worn both. I prefer the TT as the wings cut is a bit different that seems to mold to my hips better... if that makes sense?

For reference I'm 5'10" and 32 waist with boney hips... bigger guys may have a different experience.

I love the reinforced Mikes Special... have 3. With a red dot cut them sit even higher on the waist. For what it's worth IMO the TT is better built, quicker turn-around time and cheaper. You also have more trim options as well. Duely noted though the VMII is the original design in which all clones came from. Really can't go wrong with either choice though.

I wore a VMII every day for off-duty carry for probably 15 or so years, until the top edge began to fray slightly. Wait times by then were longer than I cared for, so I ordered both a TT Mike's Special, and a Ryan Grizzle Town and Country 2. I found both of these holsters to be as well-crafted and comfortable as the Sparks, and delivery for both (this was seven years ago) was about 3 months, doubtless longer now. Whichever of these you choose, I expect you'll be extremely satisfied.

My lovely bride bought me a VM2 years ago for full size 1911. It is a great holster, and probably one of the most comfortable. A good friend introduced me to TT Gunleather, and they have become my go to leather IWB. I have three Reinforced IWB holsters for a 4 inch 1911 and two Glocks, and a KX Lightweight IWB holster that I carry my Staccato C2 in often. The Reinforced IWB holster for my 4 inch 1911 has the perfect angle and height when riding IWB for me. Plus, the wait time is much less.

The only Sparks holster I own is the SS2. Great quality holster that looks like it’ll last a long time. My only complaint is that its 1.5” width belt loops are too tight for my thicker belts, and I had to buy their 1.75” belt loop snaps as replacements. Even then, their pull-the-dot snaps have been finicky for me. I don’t have the VM2 so can’t compare.

I do have two of TTGunleather’s Mike Special holsters and love them both. I’ve had no trouble with their pull-the-dot snap loops, either. The quality is excellent, just like my Sparks’ SS2 holster, but the design of the Uncle Mike (which I understand is similar to the VM2 design) makes it much more comfortable for me than the SS2. I’m guessing the VM2 design would be more comfortable for me, too

I ordered the TTGunleather holsters about 2 to 3 years ago and they arrived about 6 to 7 weeks after I placed my order - super fast compared to the Sparks lead time of 7 to 8 months from what I understand. I don’t know what TTGunleather’s lead time is now, though, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s much longer than 6 to 7 weeks.

I have 2 Mike’s Specials and at least 5 VM2’s. Both are very well made. I prefer the VM2 for one reason. I really don’t like that the belt loops spin on the Mike’s Special while they are pretty well fixed in place on the VM2. It’s a little thing, but that was the difference the decided it for me. though lately I’m back into the Summer Special 2 for government length guns because reholstering seems a little easier with what seems to me to be a slightly deeper angle to the rake.

Over the years I've managed to purchase several holsters for each of the various firearms (1911, HK, Glock and Sigs) that I own from both MS and TT. Some models work slightly better for me on different guns but that is a body/carry style factor and not quality. Both shops put out amazing leather that I literally trust my life to on a daily basis. You can't go wrong with either.
