Haven’t tried the new Super Vel stuff. Seems like the price is very close to new ammo. I do recall back in the 60s and early 70s. Their ammo was the cats meow. Lee Jurras was from plant city Florida as I recall, and he shocked the ammunition world by making really high velocity ammo. He used the catch phrase “speed kills” I think my 357 mag rounds back in the day were 110 grain and the 45 ACP were 190. Lee has passed away and I’m not sure if this is even the same company or they took over the name, does anyone know the answer to that question?

 

If you go on their website it tells the story of Lee Jurras and J D Jones. Different guys have restarted the business with lee's blessing to use the name.

 

Cameron Hopkins, former editor of American Handgunner magazine is running it. I’ve tried the certified select range ammunition and been satisfied. You can buy 5k for $999. Primers and bullets cost more than that if you handload.

 

I’ve just received 3,000 rounds thinking it was going to be decent. IMHO, I would not shoot it for any competition matches. It’s junk target ammo. Loads are way too inconsistent. I had one round that felt like it barely went off.

 

Any malfunctions or misfires? Did you chronograph it to determine inconsistency?

 

I've probably shot 10,000 rounds of it without any issues.
