Tactical Gold Cup?

Tactical gold cup - a description not often heard. If one was to go through the current Colt catalogue the Gold Cup would probably not be in most folks selections for a base gun but being in California means we aren’t most folks & when finding a Colt for a base gun especially in 9mm well the choices are one & damn hard to come by. I was lucky I stumbled across this NIB current production model earlier in the year. I was even more lucky when talking to @pistolwretch about unrelated matters he mentioned having a tiny bit of time to squeeze in installing a Chen Gen 2 magwell- of course I jumped on the opportunity & also requested a pair of his custom fitted grips at the same time. Well I got it back about 15 minutes ago & as you’d expect Chuck blew it out of the park, exceptional work as always! I have some ideas for stage 2 and the next Smith percolating in my head but for now here it is in its glory.
Thank you @pistolwretch

Nice pistol OP.

I did the same thing with my Gold Cup Trophy
I picked it up used for a price I couldn't pass up. I gave it to Doug Jones for its tactical transformation.

He replaced the Bomar rear sight with a Harrison Design fixed rear sight. Cut the stock trigger right behind the holes to more of a short trigger length. Added front cocking serrations. Cut the barrel flush to the bushing and polished it. He installed an Ed Brown narrow carry thumb safety and cut the slide stop pin down and beveled the frame. He also did a carry radius to the back of the slide and dehorned the hammer. And finished it off with a soft satin bead blasted finish.

Nice build Steve. I’ve been thinking of Harrison sights on this gun too, same rear and perhaps a gold bead front make it into a cross between tactical and sleeper build.

Well the gold cup is now in the capable hands of a smith to do the rest of the work, will post more updates when it comes back to me.
