I used to laugh at these knuckleheads that would buy grips before “needing” them, or have multiple holsters for one gun.

I have this coming to me:

The last three holsters I bought were all for guns I didn’t even have. I think it was easier for me to buy a MS Criterion Totally Pimped out and then say “well it only makes since that I buy an ACW Classic Carry for $3K” then buy the gun then the holster. Plus I didn’t think I would find an ACW so easily. Thus the issue!

I bought a SS Retro for the Classic Carry till the Criterion is ready. Then Along comes a SWEET LOOKING Nightingale,
all black rough out holster, with a straight drop.

It is brand new and very stiff. Question is :
Is there a trick to carrying a straight drop? Is there a optimal position with the straight drop? Am I whining too much?

I started carrying my 1911 WC CQB this week in a SS2 and it is more comfortable than I could have imagined.

I feel I am starting to fit in with necessary logic required to have with this particular forum.

Haha, you're going to fit in fine here.
I had ordered a TTGunleather with sharkskin trim for a DW TCP then I sold it pretty quick to help fund something I wanted more. The DW was a 4 in. and I ended up buying a NH Commander so Tim ended up fitting it for that as it's 4.25.

BTW, that's a nice looking holster.

Yes sir. George at Gunslingers ordered it that way. Also it has a mag well if it helps.

I did not think those grips would be grippy enough, but with the comfort grip that ACW does - it is more than adequate. Shot 300 rounds when I broke it in. Not an issue. I have a class scheduled where I plan on bringing and putting it through the paces.

Sweet gun. All the hype is legit.

When you've carried straight drops, they work just fine. I have problem drawing out of canted holsters because I slow down to deal with the cant.

The biggest problem with the straight drop is concealed printing of the stock on your side as it is pointing more to the rear. This is more pronounced on full size gov models and even more so with extended mag wells. If your body hides it well then go f or it.

Sawman I’m 5’10” 165lbs. I guess i am used to AIWB with Kydex. I’ll give it some more time before I sell it.
Doesn't work for everyone. I use a Vedder kydex as well which is a little thinner, but the leather seems more comfortable to me. That's the thing with holsters; what works for me might not work for you. Finding the right holster can be a PITA.

Commander and Govt models have the same size grip. I've never had a mag well on a 1911. Never needed one.

I carry at 3 O'clock and cant tolerate anything other than a ~FBI style. Easier to conceal, more comfortable and IMHO clothes worn and holster material make a bigger difference to draw time for CCW.

But we all do things differently.

Open carry? I'd say a toss up but straight drop might be more intuitive.

I used to carry at 4:30, but changed to 3:00 5-6 years ago. It works well for me.
