Trench sight mods?

The Colt New Agent has simple trench "sights" on top. does anyone have experience or ideas for improving the efficacy of these?

I know that many say the 3.5" officer is for up close / backup / last ditch anyway... but whether it's a primary or coming out of an ankle holster I'm of the belief that best accuracy possible is the goal. Hence my question: what are good methods of improving the trench sights on a new agent?

I've heard of people painting the gutter with bright paint. That might help, but only as long as it is in a nose up attitude. Once level you wouldn't see it.
I have one and can get decent groups, but certainly not pinpoint accuracy. I usually practice mag dumps into a general area on a target and can put a nice pattern about the size of a softball in it. Probably good enough for its purpose.
On the upside, when you put it down and go to another gun with sights you will feel like a world class marksman

"trench sights" suck.
Real sights, if properly constructed, pose no draw/carry negatives.

I say wrong. Love them. Only drawback is darkness shooting. Love the no snag draw and hit what I aim for

I've thought bout it in the past but I think it's fun to have something different. Anybody can hit with real sights. I can hit with a gutter. Bazinga!

OK, so I have the answer to whether or not they can be added to a piece with a ditch cut in the top. Now for the decision part of the process.

So what's the best solution? Have awesome 'smith install actual sights? Can it be done with the ditch on the top of the slide already there?

This may or not be an awful idea. Maybe a shotgun bead up front so you aquire the plane faster?

.... and loaded with some CCI shotshells? Just razzin' ya. Actually that idea kinda makes me say, why not try it? If it's no good the hole for the bead gets covered by a new dovetailed front sight.
