Has anybody purchased the new RMR. If so, what are your thoughts on it. Does it beat the SRO by a long shot?

From their website.

NY, CA, and WA state laws make it impossible for Freedom Firearms Inc dba GA Firing Line to ship items to any individuals or FFL holders who reside in those states. Under these laws:

  • Companies who sell firearms or firearm-related items (ie, scope rings) are liable for damages if any person "comes to harm" (ie, drops scope rings on their toe) in any incident involving that item.
  • The individual who sells and ships any firearm or firearm-related item to NY or CA is personally liable for damages if any person "comes to harm" in any incident involving that product.
  • CA state law specifies no time frame for these rules; the law could be applied retroactively to make our company liable for damages involving items shipped to CA even before the law's effective date.
  • Washington state law contains a stipulation that does not require a plaintiff to prove willful noncompliance to convict a defendant under their firearm-related law.
Freedom Firearms dba GA Firing Line will not risk incriminating our company nor our staff for the potential future actions of complete strangers for whom we are not responsible. No firearms or firearm-related items will be shipped to the states of CA, NY, or WA, nor to L.E.O.s who reside in those states. Please take time to read through the NY laws, the CA laws, and the WA Laws yourself.[/url]

Well, they're the only ones who have the RMR HD right now. I had a nice conversation with one of the main guys there. They don't hate on any of the Blue states. They had a few unpleasant experiences involving costly litigation and it was basically a business decision which they felt could impact their economic survival. I told them to just shut down all business with states for which there is a huge market might be a tad extreme. He told me they're working on a solution. Being in California I've occasionally run into this situation with online vendors where they just don't want to deal with risky states. Usually it's the smaller vendors where the volume they do can't offset the cost of even one litigation.

This is why small companies worry about issues like this. Steel Fox was local to me and I've bought several guns from them. Now they're gone because they supported people's freedoms.

I was hoping to have a basically new 3.25moa one from a member here yesterday but the USPS has really screwed the pooch on this one. Then I saw a bundle from scalarworks and got that one today. Didn't read the fine print, theirs was the 1 moa version. Anybody have time behind both and which did you prefer?

I have an RMR, SRO, RCR and RMR HD here, spent time behind all.

The SRO, RMR and RCR are pretty much the same.. just a difference in window size for the most part. The RMR HD is my fav for the ring and auto-sensor.

Sensor- I thought it would just be a silly feature but in doing laser training indoors, panning around and near light sources, I really think it's a benefit.

Ring- makes target and sight acquisition faster

I'm running RMR HD on all carry guns but have one RCR for snow and rain days- just in case.

It is "ok", but I would not buy another one, and prefer my Leopold DPP.

me: reads post, glances to the website name, returns to post.

I will say I too have 5, and honestly don't even really like them. My first one screwed me in a USPSA LO match stage the first time I went to use it (the sensor was fine when I made ready, but then when I pointed downrange for the first target the dot magically disappeared). I have since learned to turn off that feature. Same with the ring, no use for it. So all the "neato" stuff of this optic is lost on me.

I do like the far better buttons for adjusting the brightness than the nearly non-functional ones on the SRO. So its got that going for it, which is nice. And don't even get me started with the encyclopedia sized instructions for the morse code of push push puuuuush push puuuushh to get any of the way too many setting changed.

But, yeah, 5 of them in the gun room at this point. Why? Well, I got a deal on them and frankly I am not an ACRO fan nor an RMR fan for defense guns, so I figured I'd get these and see if I end up liking them on defense guns. (I run SRO's mostly on range and competition guns)
