I saw this and thought some here might find it interesting.
On an episode of American Pickers, they found a Training 1911 used during WW2. I paused it and took the photos you see here. If you want to see the episode, look it up on demand or history channel.com; American Pickers Season 23 Episode 13, so it is a more recent episode.
They have run across other training pieces like this before, but their expert said he had not seen it, and I think it said not heard of before. The guys paid $6500 for it so it is worth a lot more.
They also said it would be handmade in small shops, and has all the parts to scale.

That’s cool. What was it made out of? Was it like a real one with internal parts matching to be used as a trainer or something?
The range I go to here has a super huge BAR cutaway mounted on their wall. It has all the springs and pieces in it. It’s all steel and weighs several hundred pounds. It’s like 10 feet long I guess.

Lastly Kim wanted me to remind you to please keep you leg elevated. 👋🏻
