Beware of Bud’s Gunshop

They had Fiocchi slugs on their website over the weekend for $16.95/80 rounds, and I know of at least a dozen people that ordered them. It turned out to be a bait and switch, and Bud’s is dragging their feet on return shipping labels and refunds. My ammo came today, and instead of getting the 320 rounds I ordered and paid shipping for, I got 40. Needless to say, I’m not happy and will never be doing business with them again.
Here’s the ad.

Wow, sorry to hear that. I’ve had great experiences with them in the past, but quality work and quality employees are hard to come by nowadays.

Bummer. They boned up the pricing on some 5.7x28mm ammo last year and I was able to get FN 197 ammo for like $28/box. I was surprised they didn’t cancel the order because at the time these rounds were selling for $1.50 each, they honored the pricing and shipped me 1000rds. I wouldn’t have been too hurt though had they canceled, kinda obvious to me it was an error

I went back and got another 500rounds of the federal brand 5.7 ammo too, it was$24/box if I recall correctly

In case some of y’all frequent GlockTalk, that site has deleted my thread and is evidently willingly covering for Bud’s in this scam. I guess I’m done with that site now.
Trent & I created this because GT was over moderating everything over there.

As Bender says they have done this for years. They also have no trouble selling guns with out of date photos that show features that are no longer available on the gun they are selling.

A stand up company would have at the least reached out to the customer in advance. Not charged the bs shipping, addressed the problem sooner and done something to apologize for the mistake.

Buds is right up there with CTD and has been for years.

They sent a label fairly quick.

I honestly didn’t expect them to honor the price even though that would’ve been good business. My real issue is that they didn’t own up to their mistake and notify folks that there was a problem before shipping the order. My guess is they figure a certain percentage of people will get mad and say screw it and keep the ammo anyway.
Well guess what, I ain’t that guy.

Edit to add that I just heard that you can’t drop off ammo at a UPS store. The nearest UPS facility is over an hour away, so at some point, it becomes a wash financially whether to ship it back or keep it.🤬

I go to Buds just about everytime I'm in Lexington. They're pretty good in the store but have signs all over the store for help wanted in shipping and warehouse. They have way too many people in store pestering you " can I show you something ".

They also charged people shipping for the full order. Shipped the order for 10 slugs with shipping charged for 80. Made no attempt to contact, refund, or correct the issue.

Companies don't typically honor this stuff anymore, but they don't ship something completely different at significantly higher shipping cost without contacting the customer.

Is this place Buds gun shop the same as Buds guns?
Seems like it may be two different ones?
Buds Gun Shop , the online seller, also has a few brick & mortar stores in both Ky and Tn, IIRC. I've never been to the stores but have purchased many firearms from BGS. Very slow shipping but always ended well. I even refused to take ownership of 2 pistols and returned them, which eventually worked out well. I've not purchased ammo or accessories from them, and truthfully its been quite a while since I purchased a firearm from them, as my buying habits have changed

Yes....but so is the item to be shipped. Of they could correct the quantity they could correct the shipping.

Or you know like most companies inform the buyer of the error and ask them if they still want to order or cancel....Or heck, some companies would have flat canceled and refunded the order out of hand when it was discovered.

I decided to visit Buds location in Sevierville TN when I was passing through. I was kinda excited as I had bought several firearms from them over the internet, including a $4K Browning Citori. After only about 15 minutes I was pretty disappointed. The staff was apathetic, to say the very least. The monosyllabic mouth-breather behind the gun sales counter was TRULY a dick. Once he established I was from out of town and was not purchasing a firearm, he literally walked away with me in mid-sentence. Keep in mind there was no other customers there at the time. I just wanted to talk shop and ask questions, he just wanted me to go away...so I did.

I mean, I get it...you dont have to be warm and fuzzy to sell guns...but EVERYONE in the store had their Give-A-Fu*k dial turned all the way to the left. My (then) GF had purchased me a T-shirt while I was looking at guns. I secretly wished they hadn't gotten any of our money that day. I would have taken it back for a refund had it not been for fear of hurting her feelings.

Its like my dad used to say when it came to restaurant service. "Dont complain, just make a statement with your wallet". I have not purchased from Bud's since...but I'm sure they dont give a fu*k about that either.

I’ve bought at least a dozen guns from them and other than routinely slow shipping I’ve had no problems. Once they did send a gun to my routine dealer, despite my sending them the LEO certifying statement so that it could be sent directly to me at my agency. I called them up and told them they cost me unnecessary dealer fees and I wanted a free t shirt. A week later, the t shirt arrived. Here in Northern Illinois there is a large gun store called Megasports. Very well stocked. Most people call it Megabucks because even when gun control is not on the agenda ownership bends customers over on the price. I looked at a Colt XSE their 10-12 years ago and they wanted $50 over MSRP. Went home and got on Buds, ordered the same, new pistol for $225 less. Megasports
Is also staffed full of pricks, but you pay an arm and a leg for the abuse. Odds are, Buds will get more of my money.

As mentioned above you don’t need to cdrive an hour for any UPS.

Take it to any FFL you’re friendly (ish) with and ask them if they can have it picked up with their next pick up.

Schedule a pick up for your house.

As long as label already on it, and packaged correctly to ship ammo, you will be good.

I also ordered this 80 round deal. Got a small 10 round box instead. After dealing with the online chat, I may have it resolved. Got return shipping label right away in email. Supposed to be getting a full refund ( will be watching the credit card for that ). There are a couple problems with this whole thing however. Was told this was a listing error. Okay, that can happen. But that doesn't ring true. I learned of this 80 round offer on another forum. The 1st person to bring it up said he paid whatever price. I went in and the price had increased about a dollar. Others later in the thread had paid increasingly higher prices. So if this was a listing error, why did the listing keep getting modified? If it was wrong, it should have been deleted, NOT ever changing. And why send something that was not even close to what was promised? If you aren't gonna send what was ordered, notify the buyer, don't just send something else. With gas costing what it does ( Let's go Brandon ), Bud's owes me about $5 for the drive to the UPS store & back.
