Looks great. I might need to set up one of those. I bought one of the larger HF Apache rifle sized cases a few years ago and while I like how sturdy it is, the large case it seems heavier then it needs to be.

I used custom cut closed cell foam from Cobra to replace the pluck and place that the case came with.

I picked up an Apache 3800 case from HF with the 40% off coupon recently all in call it $25 and change. I figured at that price I could splurge on some custom foam from cobra. I put it all together and snapped a couple of photos. These are are all 1911 5” Government models and they fit perfectly. Im happy with the investment.

Yes. Commander and officer as well. There are several brands of closed cell dense foam. As long as you get that you'll be fine. The Pluck foam is soft, deteriorates over time with use. Stuff moves around with its use. I had an empty 50 cal ammo can, i don't know how, Reused the foam cutting to fit and made a mag carrier. I'm not terribly concerned with mags bumping around some.

Should make range trips easier then throwing several individual pistol cases in your duffel bag.

Seems like a super easy answer.

More than a few members here have been using for several years, the biggest issue seems to be the pluck and pull foam thats why you see so many closed cell foam inserts. A couple of well known members carrying around more than $10K in these actually closer to 6 figures being toted on any given day but you have to go with what your comfortable with. Paging @cundiff5535 to the white courtesy phone…

I store and transport my ammo in 50 cal ammo cans. I used to have some larger ammo cans and wooden mortar ammo crates. The larger cans are ok for storage, but they are too heavy when they bare full.

Got the new foam in while I was out of town. Really like the pre cut stuff. Much nicer than I can cut.
