I got it..Its so beautiful i cant stop looking at it... I stopped at a friends house on the way home, he is an aviation machinist and said it for sure has has a forged steel frame, not a casting. Slide and lockup are tight. Fit and finish is very nice. I Couldn't talk them down on the price, but they thru in a box of ammo. Now i just gotta watch a yootoob vid to see how to take one apart that has a full guide rod, never done that before... Im a happy, happy, girl.... lol.

Had a fun time with my new Kimber. My Dad wanted to see it so ended up going over to my parents for dinner, and shooting it there. It ran flawlessly, not even one problem. I ran 100rnds of Winchester 230 ball, and 14rnds Hydrashok hollow points thru her, including a couple of mag dumps. No problems. I used the mag that came with it, my 8rnd Ruger mag, and Dads Colt mag. All worked fine. I was hitting milk jugs at 30 yards no problem. Sights are right on..

My issue is not with their guns, every company can produce a lemon (and has)...mine is with the way I was treated by Kimber CS with my out-of-the-box-jam-o-matic Micro-9 . For reference, take your average experience with WC or NHC customer support...then imagine the EXACT OPPOSITE. Three trips back with no resolution, ended up selling it for a loss. It was my first Kimber and, after the way I was treated, it was my last. Is my experience the exception rather than the rule? Perhaps. But there are just too many other choices in 1911's to be treated...well, frankly...like sh*t..

I don't go out of my way to bash Kimber, however I will give my honest opinion when solicited.

To the OP, very nice gun....I hope its a flawlessly-functioning tack driver.

I’ve had a kimber tle/rl that I’ve been having for 14+ years… never had a issue with it… many others have come and gone but she has stayed…. She has a nice patina of finish wear that gives it a real world battle worn look lol… she’s a lifer for me.. with 230gr +p HST, she is my back up hog hunting gun most of the time…

That is sooo pretty... Thank you for sharing.. Im not sure if this forum is responsible for our addiction.. ? No.. like any other addiction at some point we have to take personal responsibility. But it sure does throw gas on the fire...lol. Im not as bad as some on here, i don't have a safe full of Nighthawks, or custom builds. But if i had the $$.... i could see that happening.. :)

Before Kimber entered the game Colt and Springfield built milspec guns ignoring that the market wanted a host of features, some practical, some aesthetic. Buyers had to send their new guns off for accuracy and reliability packages. This went on for years without either stepping up their game. Enter Kimber with their Custom model. Great pistol. All of a sudden the bigs had to step up. I’ve owned two. A pro carry HD that was a solid performer and a Custom Royal that was outstanding! I sold it to try the HD. Many times I tried to get that Royal back. I’d buy another Kimber if it appealed to me.

Lisa,

The Kimber ads from gun rags was how I got into 1911s in the first place. Bought my first one, a TRP that has since been massaged John Harrison, and it's been a spiral from there. The Custom Royal still calls to me every now and again.

Glad to hear the gun performed well.

So Kimber convinced you to buy a Springerfield? I'd fire my marketing guy for that. 😉

Im trying to Uncle Bob. I know theres lots of Kimber hate on this forum, and i dont want to get kicked out...again..lol. But look how pretty this is.... My gun shop dosnt have any garrisons, and the only Ronin they have is the aluminum frame one.. I fondled the Custom I I they have and fell in lust... The Rapide i have is a very nice gun..and has ran 100% from day one. Am i going down the Kimber rabbit hole.... It has a 1 piece guide rod..so i will have to learn how to take it apart..but i don't mind learning new stuff about guns. I have been thinking about that gun all night. The gun shop opens at 9am, so you have 3hrs to talk me out of it..... It's just sitting in a dark gun case all alone and lonely.. probably wondering if im coming back to get it.. and give it a loving home.. :)

This is a Custom II Target 10mm paid a little over 8 years back my opinion is for what it's worth, Kimber is the best for the money 1911 in the market. I would take that two tone Custom for the money over other offerings. Is that in the 8 hundred range? Looks like a great looking gun for that money. Of course you could spend what, double, and get something from DW. HOPE YOU GET IT! You're going to love it.
