Page 2 of this Kimber catalogue (from 1995 Shot Show) states as such, but that was obviously a long time ago.

EDIT: Apparently I'm wrong about Kimber (according to Joe Chambers). Read post #33 in the following thread from M1911 Forum.

My issue is not with their guns, every company can produce a lemon (and has)...mine is with the way I was treated by Kimber CS with my out-of-the-box-jam-o-matic Micro-9 . For reference, take your average experience with WC or NHC customer support...then imagine the EXACT OPPOSITE. Three trips back with no resolution, ended up selling it for a loss. It was my first Kimber and, after the way I was treated, it was my last. Is my experience the exception rather than the rule? Perhaps. But there are just too many other choices in 1911's to be treated...well, frankly...like sh*t..

I don't go out of my way to bash Kimber, however I will give my honest opinion when solicited.

To the OP, very nice gun....I hope its a flawlessly-functioning tack driver.

Before Kimber entered the game Colt and Springfield built milspec guns ignoring that the market wanted a host of features, some practical, some aesthetic. Buyers had to send their new guns off for accuracy and reliability packages. This went on for years without either stepping up their game. Enter Kimber with their Custom model. Great pistol. All of a sudden the bigs had to step up. I’ve owned two. A pro carry HD that was a solid performer and a Custom Royal that was outstanding! I sold it to try the HD. Many times I tried to get that Royal back. I’d buy another Kimber if it appealed to me.

This is a Custom II Target 10mm paid a little over 8 years back my opinion is for what it's worth, Kimber is the best for the money 1911 in the market. I would take that two tone Custom for the money over other offerings. Is that in the 8 hundred range? Looks like a great looking gun for that money. Of course you could spend what, double, and get something from DW. HOPE YOU GET IT! You're going to love it.

I got it..Its so beautiful i cant stop looking at it... I stopped at a friends house on the way home, he is an aviation machinist and said it for sure has has a forged steel frame, not a casting. Slide and lockup are tight. Fit and finish is very nice. I Couldn't talk them down on the price, but they thru in a box of ammo. Now i just gotta watch a yootoob vid to see how to take one apart that has a full guide rod, never done that before... Im a happy, happy, girl.... lol.
