I purchased a Tisas 1911 Duty Double Stack 9MM. I carry a Staccato CS for EDC but wanted a duty size double stack. I didn't want to throw down Staccato money for a P, I’ve fitted 1911 parts on two other single stacks, so I figured I’d get a Prodigy and upgrade it. Once Tisas came out with their double stacks I figured it’d be cheaper and a good project.
In it’s stock form it was accurate and functioned without issues. The trigger weighed in at around 6 pounds which is a bit much. The extractor functioned but definitely needs some tweaking in order to get it perfect. The front and rear checkering on the grip felt good but the sides weren’t aggressive enough for my liking. The disconnector also had some serious hangup when working the slide.
Below is the list of parts / work I’ve completed.
-Holosun EPS 6 MOA
-Red Dirt DSC Trigger
-Brazos Extractor, Disconnector, Sear, Sear spring, Hammer, Hammer Strut
-Surefire X300U-B
-10 pound recoil spring / 17 main spring
-EGW MSH Prodigy, Magwell Readt
-10-8 Performance mag catch gen 1
-Springfield Prodigy grip
-RSTR Prodigy Low Pro Magwell (I have a 15% code if interested)
-10-8 Performance 1911 Spring Guide
I’m going to order a 10-8 Performance Gen 2 Slide stop. The stock one is tough to reach at times. I’d also like to go with a Wilson Combat or EGW ambi safety. I just prefer their paddles size and shape. I’ve been looking at some pistol caliber suppressors so possibly fitting a threaded barrel will be next.
After all of the fitting and swapping of parts, it's perfect. Solid accuracy and reliability. The stock sights sit in the lower third of the EPS window. The supplied magazines function fine. I also ran about 250 rounds through Prodigy and Staccato mags with no issues.
