I saw a Wilson Combat video where Bill says he cleans about every 300 rounds.

I personally clean every range trip as I usually shoot more than 50 per trip per gun so I feel they should be cleaned and lubricated.

Old habit from worrying about rust primarily. Doesn't apply to modern black plastic guns with treatments, but always a coat of oil for 1911s that don't have a coating.

I clean ALL mine gunds ater firing them. 5, 50 or 500 rounds. I have friends who clean their pistols once a season during bullseye!! Also had an old boss who never changed the oil on his Caddy, only added when it was low. Really dumb!!!

The range pistols, receive a more lax regimen of upto a max of 500 rounds or when I get to it. The EDC pistols are very strict, weekly of not fired and upon every firing from 1 to however many I've shot at the time. With the EDC guns, it's mostly get rid of lint and just inspection for peace of mind.

I know well made guns can go without cleaning for long periods/round counts. Never understood not cleaning after every range trip. Especially since I enjoy cleaning weapons. Guess I’m not the majority.

used to clean after every range trip. obsessive about it. the more I thought about it, the less motivated I got. Shot in CAS about 20 years, sprayed my guns down with Ballistol at
the end of each shoot. wiped them off, or left them wrapped in a towel till I got home. wiped them down, put them away. would clean them every 3-5 years whether they needed
it of not. never had any problems. kept oil on my Smiths or Colts. I carried those and they would rust if not kept oiled and cleaned. discovered the wonders of stainless steel and
Glocks. they didn't rust. Also didn't need the cleaning. only recently returned to the 1911. keep oil on it.

I clean my handguns after every use, partly as relaxation, but mainly to keep them looking good. I paid a lot of money for most of them, and to have them sit in the safe dirty just doesn't seem right. I'm retired so I have the time to clean them, but I do find it relaxing. Maybe it's just me, but when I spend 3 or $4,000 for a 1911, I like them nice and clean, and most are stainless. I also have a nickle plated Desert Eagle, and that needs to be kept clean and polished.

My rifles are a different story. I was taught by my mentors to clean an AR after a few hundred rounds, and I try to clean my bolt action (precision shooting) after every one of two sessions at the range.

I clean my Novak every 1000 rounds, whether it needs it or not. It never misses a beat. My Glocks, every 2500 rounds approximately.

I clean my CCW (Dan Wesson ECO 9mm) after every range trip. i never want to have a problem with it when I really need it. My guns I use in competition, DW Specialist and SIG 320 X5 get cleaned when the spirit moves me.

I do put around 300 rounds through my Wilson EDC X9 every range trip. But I never need need an excuse to play with my guns! I clean them regularly. Sometimes just because I can’t go to the range. MN just restricted indoor shooting to training, only. So I took the Wilson and the Nighthawk out for a another cleaning this afternoon, instead. That said, I do love the smell of a dirty gun.

I don't clean after every trip. I do put a drop or two of lube/oil/grease and make sure everything moves smoothly. So in essence, when I "feel" they need it, which is about every couple hundred rounds.

Our nearest indoor range here in MN is still open to everyone for training. It's stated on a sign at the door, that they are not open for recreation. My wife and I train weekly since the middle of summer. It's very serious and not fun at all ;). I truly believe we improve and maintain our skills, as low-level as they are, each visit. It's the only place you can go that's kind of normal, too.

Yes, absolutely, my husband and I are planning on having absolutely no fun at the range this Saturday, either. We really do qualify for the exemption, though. He just purchased a Langdon Beretta last weekend. And it is, of course, of the utmost importance that we familiarize ourselves with it. ...which may take 52 or so weekends...

General Practice: After every shooting session I pull cleaning snakes twice from chamber to end of barrel, wipe feed ramp well so there is no residue, wipe exterior with oiled or silicone rag, return to their appropriate location in safe.

Pistols - 200 - 300rds full take down cleaning.

Rifles - If next shoot isn’t going to be for some time full cleaning when I get home. Normally shoot 20 - 100rds.

Shotguns - If next shoot isn’t going to be for some time full cleaning when I get home otherwise hundreds of rounds when ammo was readily available & affordable.

I keep my pistols / revolvers / rifles / shotguns in showroom well lubed condition.

I only shoot every week or two. I'll generally bring 2 pistols with me to each range trip and put 1-2 boxes of ammo through each one.

So, I guess I'm field stripping and cleaning after each 100 rounds on average. Too much?
