Like a lot of Para Ordnance owners, trying to find night sights is tough. Mine do not have any glow left, so sending them back to Trijicon isn't an option. At 10 yards, the sights are dead on, no problem taking out the X. Does anyone know the front and rear dovetail dimensions?

Question on securing the front sight post.

I installed a Trijicon front sight in a JEMs slide. It takes a decent amount of friction to get the sight in. The gun is in 10mm and I was shooting it this morning and noticed the front sight drifted afterwards. I really don't want to buy another front sight and I'm not confident that would fix the issue as I'm not sure I could get the sight in if I allowed for more friction.

Has anyone had luck with loctite? I guess I could drill it and use a set screw. Any thoughts?

Since there are plenty of 1911 sight cut's out there, I thought that I would post the different dimensions that i have come across.

Novak is pretty much the standard cut for 1911 sights.
Front: 65° x 330" x .075" (have also seen .060" and .070")
Rear: 65° x .495"

Springfield used to use the standard Novak rear cut, but it's changed since after ~2002 to a smaller cut.
Front: 60° x .330" x .078"
Rear: 65° x ~.490"-.485" (this is just a smaller cut in the dovetail, which requires filing down the sight to fit)

STI
Front: 60° x .300” x .074"
Rear: Novak (fixed) 65° x .495” or BoMar (adjustable)

Armscor (RIA Tactical and Citadel)
Front: 65° x .330" x .085"
Rear: 65° x .487" (similar to Novak, but needs to be fit like the Springfield.)

Dan Wesson uses a combination of standard Novak rear and Springfield front:
Front: 60° x .330" x .078"
Rear: 65° x .4.95"

Kimber has it's own sight cuts.
Front: 65° x .330" x .070”
Rear: 60° x .3605" x .194"

Wilson Combat:
Front: 60° x .300”
Rear:

Smith & Wesson has it's own sight cuts. I haven't looked into what they are.
Does anyone know what sights could be used for the Tisas Match? They are a Bomar cut is all I know.
Attached is a full top slide view of Rear and Front sight, top & side view of the front and a side by side with a Colt Gold Cup Trophy.
I've reached out to Tisas USA and was told there may be some announcements during Shot Show 2024 but so far no updates on their website.
Just not a fan of the black front post sights. - The gun is really nice though.
I am very new to the 1911 family, and just learning about all the potential changes that one can make to modify the look and feel of their new prized possessions!

Drill and pin it is the way to go but with the Trijicon capsule already installed that might be a bit of an issue if you aren't careful?

Howdy all!

I have a Bul Armory Command in 9mm that’s I’d really like to put an adjustable rear on. I spoke with Bul and they simply said they didn’t make one and couldn’t recommend one. When I asked for specs on the cut I never heard back. Unusual, as I’ve had luck in speaking with them in the past.

BA advertises the rear as Novak cut. But after speaking with Dawson Precision, I was left with the impression that it isn’t a true Novak, or it’s not standard? Could have taken that wrong I’m not sure, but they too couldn’t offer guidance.

I’m not above sending out for smith work, but am handy enough and motivated to do things myself. Provided no milling is required or tools like that. I have hand tools galore.
Thanks in advance for any help!

So these are the dimensions I got from Springfield for the prodigy front sight

Prodigy front sight: .330 x 60 and .250 Tall

Now does anyone happen to know of a replacement front sight that doesn't use fiber optic ? (Mine flew off while shooting)

I can’t help you with the replacement sight, but you can easily replace the fiber optic rod. These are pretty much wear parts. There are a couple of different diameters. Find the material (not expensive at all) cut a little longer than you need and use some fire to round the ends. Those torches that you use in the kitchen are perfect, but a match will do if you’re careful.

The prodigy was basically brand new when the fiber optic flew out ( I'd put maybe 500 to 800 rounds through it and ya)

This is probably the right thread to ask this question: Does anyone know the name or model # of the old Novak sights here - the one that overhangs the rear of the slide?

Novak doesn’t show anything similar now. Harrison and 10-8 have sights that look similar, but without the overhang at the back of the slide.

Thanks!
Could be wrong but that looks like a Heinie

Yessir - they’d probably resolve this super-quick. I’ve got a slide that I’m thinking of sending out to them and that might be the right time to ask. Novak’s reputation is outstanding, and I don’t want to take advantage of that by asking about old parts when I’m not buying any new ones!
Look, they do live with their hidtory as best they can. Never know if they might turn up a NOS part! Can't hurt to ask.
